DevOps / SRE Engineer – Technical Debt Remediation

We are looking for a Senior DevOps / SRE Engineer to lead and execute technical debt remediation initiatives while remaining hands-on with engineering and problem-solving. 

The role will work closely with global teams and stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and remediate technical debt while ensuring alignment with engineering standards, governance, security, and compliance requirements. 

A Senior DevOps/SRE Engineer who can combine strong hands-on engineering with technical leadership, particularly in technical debt remediation, reliability, automation, and continuous improvement

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead and execute technical debt remediation initiatives. 

  • Remain hands-on with implementation, troubleshooting, automation, and problem-solving. 

  • Identify, assess, and prioritize technical debt, risks, dependencies, and improvement opportunities. 

  • Provide technical guidance and support engineering decisions. 

  • Develop remediation plans and track progress against priorities. 

  • Ensure solutions align with enterprise engineering standards, governance, and compliance requirements. 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and globally distributed engineering teams. 

  • Promote DevOps/SRE best practices, automation, reliability, and continuous improvement. 

  • Support technical planning, reporting, and knowledge sharing. 

Required Experience 

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, Cloud, Software Engineering, or Platform Engineering. 

  • Proven hands-on experience with technical debt identification and remediation

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 

  • Experience making technical decisions and providing engineering leadership. 

  • Experience managing technical risks, dependencies, priorities, and stakeholders. 

  • Strong understanding of engineering standards, governance, security, and compliance. 

  • Experience with DevOps practices, automation, CI/CD, and production environments. 

Nice to Have 

  • Azure and/or AWS experience. 

  • Infrastructure as Code and automation. 

  • Kubernetes / containers. 

  • Enterprise architecture exposure. 

  • Agile/Scrum. 

  • Observability, SRE metrics, and reporting. 

  • Coaching and mentoring experience. 

Schedule 

  • Mexico candidates: Start time is 7:00 AM Mexico City time

  • The role requires some overlap with GDS teams in India

ADVANCED CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH AND SPANISH ESSENTIAL (Will be evaluated).

Job type: Remote

Location: México.

Salary: $100,000 gross
